Arizona Western College invites the community to a Catrinas and Catrines contest Thursday, Oct. 30, in honor of Día de los Muertos.

Whether you are competing or simply want to celebrate Mexican tradition, all are welcome to attend. The first place winner will be awarded $400, second place $300, third place $200 and People’s Choice $100.

“This competition is a joyful way for our community to honor tradition, showcase incredible talent, and bring to life the beauty of Catrinas and Catrines for all to enjoy,” shared Martha Cordova, director of transfer services at AWC.

The free event will be held 3-4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, in the 3C Breezeway of the AWC Yuma Campus.

Contest participants must register before the event and promptly check in at 2:30 p.m. in the Francis Morris Conference Roo
