College football's coaching carousel got off to an early start this season with a few coaches fired in September, but now, things are really heating up, and many eyes are on Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin.
Kiffin's name often rises to the top when there are head coaching vacancies at big-name programs, like after Penn State fired James Franklin and, more recently, Florida fired Billy Napier. So the Ole Miss coach told the SEC Network on Saturday, ahead of No. 8 Ole Miss' road game against No. 13 Oklahoma, what he said to his team this week about rumors of him leaving Oxford to become the Gators coach.

Ahead of Ole Miss' road game against Oklahoma on Saturday, Kiffin was asked how he addressed the coaching carousel rumors with his team.
"I just mentioned it to them yesterday," said Kiffin, who is currently the 10th highest-paid college football coach making $9 million in total pay, according to USA TODAY Sports' database of coaches' salaries. "That's a product of having a program with a lot of players and coaches doing a really good job.
"And I wouldn't even mention it because they've been through this every year, probably four years in a row, but we have so many new players, I just told them, 'Hey guys, this is what happens around here because we win games and people like the style that we play in.' So that is all about a compliment to the players."
Kiffin previously mentioned he was planning to address the coaching rumors with his team, ESPN's Molly McGrath reported. More from On3:
“Lane Kiffin told me he usually doesn’t address those kind of coaching rumors in-season, because there’s so much more football to play, and there’s so many bigger things to focus on. But he’s actually going to do things differently today in their team meeting – he is going to address those (Florida) rumors with his players,” McGrath said Friday afternoon during a 2 pm ET hit on ESPN‘s SportsCenter.
It's understandable why Kiffin would want to quash any doubts from his players about his commitment to the team, especially ahead of Ole Miss' matchup against Oklahoma. But, of course, that doesn't ensure he's staying in Mississippi indefinitely.
