MECOSTA COUNTY, MI – An 18-year-old man is dead and two boys were injured in a crash with a tree.
Rescue crews were called at 3:33 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, to the area of 8 Mile and 140th for a single-vehicle crash, according to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office.
Police arrived to find a vehicle had left the roadway and hit a tree, police said.
The driver, an 18-year-old Morely man, suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The vehicle had two passengers, a 16-year-old Big Rapids boy and 17-year-old Morely boy, police said.
The 17 year old suffered serious injuries and was taken to Butterworth Hospital for emergency medical treatment, police said.
