October 25, 1997 - Nebraska was surprised by an early-season snowstorm on Oct. 25, 1997. Some areas received up to 12 to 24 inches of heavy wet snow.
Temperatures in the days leading up to the storm were in the 70s and 80s. The snow took down thousands of tree limbs and knocked out power for hundreds of thousands of people across the Midwest.
