HELENA, Ala. —
Helena police officers engaged with the community by hosting their quarterly "Citizens Handgun Safety Course" on Saturday morning, focusing on educating residents about safe firearm handling and marksmanship.

The course covered basic gun safety, including how to carry and safely store weapons, and emphasized the four primary rules of firearm safety: always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction, treat all guns as though they are loaded, keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot and always be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
