CONNECTICUT, USA — Connecticut’s top elections official, Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas, spoke on Wednesday night to corporate leaders, lawmakers and young women at the Aurora Luminary Celebration, reflecting on her professional journey and offering her perspective on the state of American democracy.

“I have my concerns,” Thomas said to the crowd of approximately 400. “But I remind people that in a representative democracy, it’s the people who rule. So, I ask them, ‘what are you doing to make sure it’s not in trouble?’”

The Aurora Women and Girls Foundation supports women and girls in the greater Hartford area by providing economic support, educational opportunities and leadership mentoring.
