New Delhi, Oct 26: India’s energy transition journey under Prime Minister Narendra Modi is boosting farmers’ incomes, according to Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri.

The country’s 2G Bio-ethanol plants in Golaghat, Assam, are reshaping the rural economy and promoting clean energy. The ethanol revolution has added Rs 1,07,580 crore to farmers’ earnings and saved Rs 1,26,210 crore in foreign exchange by curbing crude oil imports.

Puri highlighted that the government’s ethanol initiative aligns with Modi’s vision of turning food providers into energy providers. The northeastern region will benefit from a bamboo-based bio-ethanol refinery nearing completion, which will produce 49 kilotonnes annually and increase the income of nearly 30,000 rural families in Assam, Arunachal Prades
