The Maharashtra Police made a second arrest on Saturday in the suicide case of a woman doctor posted at Phaltan Civil Hospital, who was found dead in a hotel room on October 23.

Police officials said that absconding Sub-Inspector Gopal Badane, named in the doctor’s suicide note, surrendered at Phaltan Rural Police Station on Saturday evening and was subsequently arrested.

Earlier in the day, police had arrested Prashant Banker, the son of the house owner where the victim lived. Banker, a software engineer, has been booked for rape and abetment to suicide.
