SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The Goshen Center for Cancer Care hosted the Making Strides of Michiana walk at Howard Park on Saturday morning.
The annual walk is a celebration of courage and hope for breast cancer patients.
The goal is to unite communities to honor those affected by the disease. WNDU’s Tricia Sloma emceed the event.
“Hundreds of women have signed the truck while they were fighting, once they’ve survived or in memory of someone who lost the battle,” said Izzy Cherrone and Lisa McCreary, family members of late Clay Fire Marshal Dave Cherrone. “People come back and see these names and they go, ‘There’s hope for me.’”
Cherrone’s daughter is a local firefighter. She says she hopes to continue to honor his memory each year with the pink themed fire truck.
