Homeward Bound Animal Rescue, a local nonprofit founded in 2021, is appealing to the community for continued support to help keep its small cat shelter open.
Director Megan Springer said the organization recently reached a critical point after falling $500 short of its monthly expenses, which total about $1,500 for rent alone.
A heartfelt social media post helped them cover the shortfall, but Springer said long-term, steady donations are vital to staying afloat.
“We’ve worked really, really hard for this,” Springer said. “If we had to close, it would mean finding homes for 42 cats – and a place for me to lay my broken heart.”
