VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI - Two adult dogs and a litter of 19 mastiff puppies died in a fire early Sunday morning, Oct. 26 according to South Haven Area Emergency Services.
The puppies were 19 days old.
The fire destroyed an outbuilding on a property on M-43 in Arlington Township, about 15 miles east of South Haven, a news release said.
The Bangor Community Fire Department, Columbia Township Fire Department and South Haven Area Emergency Services all responded to the fire around 4:50 a.m.
By the time crews arrived, the structure was engulfed in flames.
It’s believed a heat lamp sitting near straw caused the fire.
