A second-year Delhi University student was injured in an acid attack near Lakshmibai College in northwest Delhi on Sunday morning, police said. The incident occurred around 10 am, a short distance from the college campus.
According to officials, an unidentified man threw a flammable substance at the student, who managed to shield her face but sustained burns on her hand. She is currently being treated at RML Hospital and is expected to be discharged soon.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the attacker was known to the victim. Both the accused and the student are residents of Mukundpur, police sources said.
Multiple police teams have been formed to trace and arrest the suspect. Raids are being carried out at several locations to locate him. - Ends
