The Greater Baton Rouge State Fair will be closed again Sunday. After two rounds of heavy rain since Saturday, the grounds are too wet to park vehicles and operate rides, the organization said.
Fair officials are working to reschedule the High School Volunteer Awards Ceremony and Lego Extravaganza, which were to take place Sunday afternoon. They are also assessing the fairgrounds to determine whether the fair can reopen on Monday.
The 11-day. fair, which opened on Thursday, is scheduled to run through next Sunday, Nov. 2. The event has been a regional tradition since 1965. It’s run by volunteers, and all fair proceeds go to scholarships and local causes, with $5 million contributed through the fair’s foundation since 1987.
