Immigration advocates are raising concerns over unusual weekend check-ins at the Stockton ICE office, where several individuals were reportedly detained, prompting protests outside the facility.
On Saturday, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that several immigrants summoned to the Stockton ICE office are part of a federal program known as "Alternatives to Detention," or the "Intensive Supervision Appearance Program." This program allows noncitizens to live at home while their immigration cases are processed and currently includes about 7.6 million people.
According to an immigrant advocacy group that spoke to the San Francisco Chronicle, six to eight individuals, including an asylum seeker, were detained by early afternoon. The ICE website lists regular appointment hours at the Stockt
