FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Demonstrators gathered outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement buildings in Fresno and Stockton this weekend.

It comes as immigrants were being called to check in at the ICE office on Friday night and Saturday morning.

Activists in Stockton say immigrants were being told to choose between talking to a lawyer or saying goodbye to their families.

"I think that we've lost our way to humanity," says Gloria Hernandez, a local activist, was demonstrated outside the ICE office in Downtown Fresno on Sunday.

Hernandez says she's been warning those going into the ICE building about what's happening.

She witnessed the moment a wife realized, after several hours of waiting, that her husband was being transferred while in ICE custody.
