A woman died after being rescued from an island off Cape Cod this week after fleeing a boat that caught fire with her husband and son and spending two nights in a barn for shelter.

Cynthia Sullivan, 72, died Thursday afternoon, according to a social media post by her son and a GoFundMe created to support the family.

“My mom passed last night. She went in peace,” reads the post by Chris Sullivan. His brother managed to get his mother and father under “extremely chaotic circumstances” during the boat fire, according to the post.

Members of the Coast Guard rescued three family members from Naushon Island off the Massachusetts coast on Wednesday after receiving a mayday call.
