Australians have been told to prepare for a “major mix of conditions” this week, with numerous southern capitals set to be smashed by strong storms while the north will sizzle as temperatures climb well above seasonal averages.

Sky News Australia weather presenter Julia Seymour said Australians in every corner of the nation should expect “a major mix of conditions” over the next seven days.

Those residing in Brisbane are set to swelter on Monday, with temperatures forecast to reach a warm top of 36C, almost ten degrees above the monthly average.

Seymour described it as a “scorcher to start the working week”.

She added from Tuesday onwards the spring swing would be in “full force” as temperatures are forecast to plummet down to 22C while rainfall moves in.
