Photos and video of the mysterious man went viral on social media during the game, and set off a flurry of discussion about who he actually was. (The real Colonel died more than four decades ago, in 1980.)
The fast-food chain, however, later confirmed that the man behind home plate was not a random fan impersonating the Colonel, but rather an individual sent by the company itself .
