NEW YORK (PIX11) — Nearly 5 million pounds of chicken distributed nationwide have been recalled due to a "possible foreign matter contamination," according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.
The recall was issued by Hormel Foods Corporation, which distributes the ready-to-eat frozen chicken products to hotel and restaurant supply stores. Hormel is more famously known for its brands like Skippy, Spam and Planters.
The 4.8 million pounds worth of frozen chicken breasts and thighs were said to have possibly been contaminated with pieces of metal, according to the recall order.
