HOUSTON – The Flying Saucer Pie Company, a longtime Houston favorite for pies and other baked goods, is asking for community help this holiday season.

The family-run bakery, known for its famous holiday pie creations, is facing financial challenges due to rising costs.

Owner Heather Leeson said the company didn’t make enough money this year to purchase supplies needed for their annual Thanksgiving and Christmas pie rush — a tradition Houston families have cherished since 1967.

Leeson said it was difficult to ask for help, but keeping the bakery open for the community means everything to her.

“We have a tradition for a lot of families,” Leeson said. “To tell people the pie your grandfather’s been eating for 40 years isn’t available — it’s heartbreaking. It’s scary to think about losing
