A black bear cub recently spotted in San Tan Valley was safely captured on Oct. 25 to be relocated to the northern Arizona wilderness, according to officials.
"Last week, this little bear cub was spotted wandering in San Tan Valley, but PCSO and Arizona Game & Fish Department were unable to track him and find probable claws for an arrest," the Pinal County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post .
The cub, now called Ted, was seen a second time near Arizona Farms and Felix roads. Deputies managed to corral him up a palm tree, where the rescue effort began, the post said.
With assistance from the Arizona Game and Fish Department and Queen Creek Fire and Medical, Ted was tranquilized and removed from the tree, the post said.
Rural Metro Firefighters also supported the rescue, accordi
