A woman told police that veteran television reporter turned corporate consultant Liam Cox “tried to kill” her when he allegedly strangled her in a Vaucluse home, leaving her with a bleeding nose, bruised ribs and coughing up blood.

Police were called to the house shortly before midnight on Saturday, May 4, after Cox and the woman had allegedly been involved in several physical fights beginning at a fundraising event.

At Downing Centre Local Court, Cox, 39, was granted bail on Monday to live with a friend in Broadbeach, Queensland, with a magistrate accepting he would most likely spend longer in jail on remand than he would in jail if convicted.
