Some scammers also request gift card numbers or payment through money-transfer apps.
Police said the department will never call to demand payment for warrants or bail, ask for sensitive personal information, or request gift card numbers as a form of payment.
Anyone who receives a suspicious call is urged to hang up and report it. Residents can verify information by calling the Hermosa Beach Police Departme
