If there was anything that could cheer up the Caesars Superdome crowd on a restless afternoon, it was the sight of Tyler Shough running onto the field.
Roughly 15 minutes of real time earlier, Spencer Rattler and the offense had been booed off it. Coach Kellen Moore had seen enough. After weeks of backing the second-year quarterback, and after months of resisting calls to turn to his second-round signal-caller, the first-year coach finally made the switch that many had been waiting to see.
And when Shough was shown on the video board as he entered in the third quarter, the black-and-gold faithful cheered as loudly as they had all day.
The change did not lead to a different result, however.
