SALT LAKE CITY — Police are asking the public for help with an investigation into a construction board sign that had a message on it involving racial slurs.

The Alpine City Police Department said the sign was reported on Friday night by people who saw the sign while passing through an area in the city.

“We received a call last night regarding an incident with a construction message board in Alpine,” the police department said. “Lone Peak Police were notified, and the message was immediately disabled.”

Police said they are asking anyone with information about the language on the sign to call 801-756-9800.

“Neither the city nor our contractor condone this type of messaging,” police said.
