Hands up if you think Quinn Hughes hasn’t quite unleashed his total and dynamic game.
The sublime edge work of the Vancouver Canucks captain has still been there to escape the forecheck. So has delivering laser-like passes to spring a teammate, joining the rush, and causing matchup problems with his quick-thinking quarterbacking of the power play.
And Hughes has had to make quick pivots to avoid being stapled to the boards or knocked to the ice.
All that takes a toll on the body, especially if he’s been trying to play through something before being injured Saturday. A condensed schedule in an Olympic year that has the Canucks playing their seventh game in 11 days Sunday also doesn’t help. Wear and tear is adding up around the NHL.
Hughes is out day-to-day with a lower-body ailment
