A roller coaster at Canobie Lake Park malfunctioned on Saturday night, leaving its passengers stuck, authorities said. The Salem Fire Department responded and brought the amusement park visitors down safely.
Battalion Chief Corey Ward said crews were dispatched around 11 p.m. to find 12 passengers on the “Time Winder” ride stuck about 20 feet high on the ride. Fire crews assisted amusement park staff in evacuating the passengers with a tower ladder truck and a boom lift.
According to Ward, there were no injuries, and the cause of the malfunction was an electrical transformer failure.
The Time Winder ride was listed as “currently closed” on the park’s website as of late Sunday afternoon.
