The Election Commission will hold a press conference on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) at 4:15 pm on Monday. During this conference, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi will announce the dates for the SIR across the country.
The Election Commission may launch SIR across the country next week. It will begin with 10-15 states. SIR will first be conducted in states where assembly elections are due within the next year. Assembly elections are due in Assam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and West Bengal in 2026.
An Election Commission official had stated that SIR will not be conducted yet in states where local body elections are due. The reason for this is that staff at the lower level will be busy with those elections.
