Elections for the 18th Bihar Legislative Assembly will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11. In the first phase, voting will take place for 121 seats across 18 districts, while the second phase will cover 122 seats across 20 districts.

A total of 2,616 candidates are contesting in both phases, out of which 1,085 (around 41%) are first-time contestants. These include candidates from major political parties as well as independents.

This year, political parties have placed significant trust in new and young faces. Among notable fresh entrants, the BJP has fielded folk singer Maithili Thakur from Alinagar, while the RJD has nominated Dr. Karishma Rai, granddaughter of former Chief Minister Daroga Rai, from Parsa, and Bhojpuri star Khesari Lal Yadav from Chhapra.
