NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- Chefs from across the state came together in New Haven to fundraise to support the next generation of culinary professionals Sunday.
Held at Gioia Cafe and Bar, the first 'Chefs for Chef' charity dinner raised money towards the Connecticut Hospitality Educational Foundation (CHEF). Proceeds from the ticketed, five course dinner will go to fund workforce training, scholarships and other opportunities through the foundation.
Avi Szapiro and Tim Cabral of Gioia say showing up to support other local chefs has always been a habit of theirs. "We started talking about, why don't we turn this into something we could do at our own house and make it fun and for a good cause," Cabral added.
