Oops, they did it again.

Gaston Day claimed a pair of NCISAA 2A sports titles on Saturday, earning its third straight state crown in girls tennis, while the Spartan volleyball team needed five sets to earn its second title in a row.

Gaston Day’s girls tennis team got the day started with a 5-4 win over Epiphany School of Global Studies (New Bern) across town at Gaston Christian School. It is the program’s fifth state title and fourth in five years. The win was the second time in as many years it took down Epiphany to claim a state crown.

Emilee Ibsen, Avery Shaffer and Margaux Nelli earned singles victories. The doubles teams of Ibsen and Shaffer, as well as Nelli and Yuliia Stakh, were also victorious.
