Shadow energy minister Dan Tehan has accused Chris Bowen of presiding over a “reckless renewables rollout” which is driving up energy costs.

Speaking to Sky News host Chris Kenny, Mr Tehan said Australians deserved full transparency about the costs and modelling behind the government’s net zero push.

It comes after the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) repeatedly refused to turn over the first volume of an incoming government brief, written for the information of the minister.

“We’ve been wanting to ask questions of these agencies for quite some time,” Mr Tehan said.

“And we want to get the facts, especially around the cost of Labor’s reckless renewables rollout and their reckless pursuit of net zero.”
