MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -Drivers will have to find a new route to take for the better part of a week as crews replace a deteriorating raildroad crossing on Packers Avenue.

Starting Monday, Oct. 27 at 6a.m. there will be a full closure according to the City of Madison. It is expected to last about four days if not fewer, until an anticipated reopening Thursday afternoon on Oct. 30.

“It’s an extremely busy street, its about over 40,000 vehicles per day but really the only way to get it properly done was with a full closure,” said Tom Mohr, Madison’s Assistant Director of Traffic Engineering.

There are message boards and signs directing drivers to detours that include using Aberg Avenue and North Sherman Avenue as ways to get around the construction zone.
