Bruce Springsteen! What more does one have to say?

Director and screenwriter Scott Cooper has a lot more to say in the current movie “Springsteen: Delivery Me From Nowhere.” It’s not a Springsteen full of revelation. But it’s a peek into Springsteen not seen by many. That Springsteen has throughout his life wrestled with bouts of depression is common knowledge to those in the know. It’s another thing to see the depression portrayed on screen.

Let me say at the outset that Jeremy Allen White, who plays the lead role, looks nothing like Bruce Springsteen. He looks in the movie more like Dustin Hoffman. But White captures the character. He masters the shy side of Springsteen and the pitfalls of the artist’s personality.
