As Union Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone for the new Maharashtra BJP headquarters in South Mumbai Monday, Opposition parties claimed that the plot in question is a disputed property given on a 99-year lease to the Maharashtra State Housing Finance Corporation.
The Opposition has alleged that the property was purchased by a private builder without renewing its lease and was later sold to the BJP to construct its new headquarters. Responding to the allegations, a BJP office-bearer said the party had followed all legal processes to acquire the land.
