Glasgow's iconic Cineworld on Renfrew Street, which closed its doors last month , will officially remain a cinema after being bought over by a rival firm.

Omniplex Cinemas is taking over the Renfrew Street site and is to see major refurbishment of the tallest cinema on the planet, before itt. reopens in the middle of next year.

The upcoming renovations will include fully recliner screens with enhanced laser projection and sound, as well as three giant OmniplexMAXX screens featuring high-definition 4K projection.

Omniplex Renfrew Street will also sell cinema snacks and hot food including pizzas and burgers from Joe’s Food Truck, with more details of the site's new features are to be announced at a later date.
