GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- On Saturday, the city of Gloversville announced it was hit by a ransomware attack. According to officials, a digital ransom note was discovered by the city's finance commissioner on March 14.

City officials said once the note was discovered, the incident was reported to the FBI, New York State Police and Homeland Security cyber experts. On March 18, the cyber experts instructed the city to retain a cybersecurity and legal firm that specializes in handling these incidents.

The firms were retained, and negotiations with the Threat Actor Group began to reach a settlement to recover the stolen data. The city said the attack compromised the personal information of all city employees, payroll records, direct deposit information and account numbers of past and pres
