Police have arrested a man who is suspected of killing his mother in New Canaan on Friday night and they said he is due in court on Monday.

Officers were called to South Avenue and Gerdes Road around 10:30 p.m. for a report of a man yelling from the woods.

As officers were responding, dispatchers said they received a 911 call from a man at a home on Gerdes Road saying he killed his mother.

Emergency crews treated the victim who was pronounced dead at the scene. The person's identity has not yet been released.

Police said they identified 20-year-old Sebastian Van Stockum as a suspect and he was arrested and is being charged with murder. He remains in custody on a $2 million bond.
