CINCINNATI – As the scoreboard flipped to the fourth quarter on Sunday, the Jets trailed by 15 points against the Bengals.

Game over. Right?

The Jets’ offense had scored a grand total of 17 points in their last two games. Yes, they had shown promise running the ball against the Bengals, but without their top two receivers it was inconceivable they’d have the firepower to catch, let alone pass, the Bengals in the fourth quarter.

About 45 minutes later, the roars from inside the visitors’ locker room at Paycor Stadium felt loud enough to shake the cinderblock wall that separated it from the hall.
