BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WSPA) - A woman was sentenced on Monday to spend at least five years in prison for her role in the death of a man in 2023.

According to the Buncombe County District Attorney's Office, 24-year-old Erika Denise Frisby pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to second degree murder in the 2023 death of Jeruan Spencer.

Frisby was sentenced to between 60 and 84 months in the state department of corrections. She must serve at least five years before she can be considered for release.

According to the district attorney's office, Spencer's body was found in 2023 in a wooded area on McKiney Road. An investigation determined he was shot while in a vehicle on Haywood Road in Ashevillle.
