A man from Massachusetts won $25,000 a year for life — but chose to receive his prize all at once.

George Stoll, of Whitman, won the prize from the “Lucky for Life” drawing held on Oct. 17.

The first five numbers on the ticket he bought at Little Comfort General Store in his hometown matched those drawn, making the ticket worth $25,000 a year for life.

But instead of receiving his money in increments, Stoll chose the cash option when he claimed the ticket on Thursday.

He received a one-time payment of $390,000 before taxes.

The store where Stoll bought his winning ticket will receive a $5,000 bonus. “Lucky for Life” drawings are held seven days a week and tickets cost $2 to play. Irene Rotondo Public Safety Reporter
