NOVI, MI – A 33-year-old Novi man is in custody after allegedly stealing an ambulance with a paramedic and patient inside and crashing it into another vehicle, according to police.
Changlin Li, 33, faces charges for allegedly stealing the ambulance while being treated in a separate crash in Novi, Police Chief Erick Zinser confirmed.
Li was arraigned on Saturday, Oct. 25, according to court records. He was charged with carjacking, second degree fleeing and eluding an officer, two counts of assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer, two counts of disarming a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.
In a struggle with a police officer, Li allegedly attempted to take the firearm off of an officer. He attempted again at the hospital, the chief said.
