SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. —

Police cited a driver and petitioned to have his license suspended after he allegedly struck a father and toddler in a Massachusetts crosswalk over the weekend, the department said.

A family of four was crossing Main Street in Southborough at approximately 10:35 a.m. on Saturday when a father and his 2-year-old were struck by a Ford Escape, according to a statement from the Southborough Police Department.

"The boy was treated at the scene by the Southborough Fire Department, then transported to a local hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening. The father was not injured," police said.

Police identified the driver as Thomas Turner, 85, of Wayland.
