Grand Rapids drivers should soon see some traffic congestion ease around the busy U.S. 131 and I-196 interchange.

Lane closures for bridge work around the interchange are scheduled to conclude by about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).

The right lane of eastbound I-196 between Lane Avenue and U.S. 131 has been closed since Sept. 25 , but will reopen Wednesday evening.

Similarly, the westbound I-196 ramp to southbound U.S. 131 is expected to reopen, as are shoulders on each of the two highways.
