Maintaining its traditional spot on the school sports fall calendar, cross country began the 2025 postseason competitions in recent days, including the Class B Championships held Saturday, Oct. 25, in which the Mt. Hope High School squads took part.
Also located at the site of this week's state championship event, the Huskies and their brethren raced over Ponaganset High's Covered Bridge Trail 3.1-mile course where Mt. Hope's Jessica Deal won the girls' individual race with a time of 19 minutes, 31.58 seconds.
The senior bested the field, including her top regular season competition in the Metropolitan Division, Barrington's Evelyn Lefort, who finished second with a 19:48.83.
