KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - A Kearney woman is heading to prison just over year after her husband was shot to death.
Karen Geisler, 57, appeared in Buffalo County District Court on Friday for her sentencing hearing on two felony charges.
Geisler had pleaded no contest in August to attempted second-degree murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony. She had originally been charged with second-degree murder, which was later amended.
District Court Judge Patrick Lee sentenced Geisler to 20 to 40 years on the attempted second-degree murder charge and 11 to 15 years for the weapon’s charge.
According to court records, the sentences will be served consecutively. She received 270 days credit for time already served.
