LAPEER COUNTY, MI – A 69-year-old Washington man died in a crash that left two others injured on M-53 in Imlay Township, according to the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office.
Stephen Sobanski was pronounced dead at the scene when deputies responded to the crash at 3:38 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24 on M-53 just north of Imlay City.
Sobanski was driving a 2014 Jeep Patriot north on M-53 when it crossed over the center line into the southbound lane, investigators said.
The Jeep collided head-on with a southbound Freightliner semi-tractor. The semi-tractor entered the west ditch and the Jeep came to rest on the east shoulder after the collision, according to investigators.
