NORMAL, Ill (WMBD) -- Rivian is preparing for layoffs that will amount to about 4.5% of its workforce.
The announcement from EV Company CEO RJ Scaringe was sent to employees last week.
It said, "with the launch of R2 in front of us and the need to profitably scale our business, we have made the very difficult decision to make a number of structural adjustments to our teams."
The Rivian Founder also said the changes were not made lightly, are not easy to hear and "the hard work of the departing team members is greatly appreciated."
It's unclear what facility, location or office might see the majority of the job cuts or exactly how many people are losing their jobs.
