Aberdeen have appointed Lutz Pfannenstiel as their first sporting director and his first job will be to back Jimmy Thelin - rather than sack him! ‌

The club have confirmed the colourful German will start as their new sporting director on November 10th . ‌

The Dons hope his pending appointment will help and give more support to Scottish Cup-winning manager Thelin, in an attempt to turn the club’s fortunes around on the park. ‌

Chairman Dave Cormack and the Pittodrie board remain behind the Swede, but they are looking for a significant improvement in results, with the first aim of climbing out of the Premiership ’s bottom two.

Aberdeen have won just two league games all season and the heat has been turned up again after the 6-0 Conference League thrashing to AEK
