OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A kitchen accident was determined to be the cause of a house fire in North Omaha Monday afternoon.

An Omaha Fire Department report says crews reported to the scene near 66th Street and Curtis Avenue around 12:20 p.m. Monday.

At the scene, crews found occupant inside the home who was rescued under his own power, according to OFD. After an evaluation, it was determined that the occupant did not need to go to the hospital.

The fire was quickly extinguished.

After an investigation, it was determined that the cause of the fire was accidental due to food being left on the stove.

Damage to the home was estimated to be $35,000.
